Great Western Tiers Cycle Trails

The Great Western Tiers cycle trails

Cycling is one of the best ways to enjoy the sights and sounds of Tasmania. Here in the Great Western Tiers, four cycle trails have been developed for the especial enjoyment of cyclists, an initiative of Meander Valley Council and the Great Western Tiers Tourism Association, supported by Tourism Tasmania.

The four trails are marked by special roadside bollards and maps are available in hard copy from Visitor Information Centres in both Mole Creek and Deloraine as well as online. The bollards are numbered and each number corresponds to a podcast which may be downloaded via the links below. General information to enhance your safe enjoyment of these rides may be found here.

The Great Caves Ride

This ride is best enjoyed over two days (covering 72 km on one day and 54 km on the other), taking time to enjoy the sights and attractions along the way, including Mole Creek's famous caves, Trowunna Wildlife Park and spectacular Alum Cliffs. Mole Creek is at the heart of this sensational ride and offers cyclists a choice of accommodation and dining venues.

One of the features of the Great Western Tiers Cycling Trails is the podcasts which are available to inform and entertain you along the way. You can listen to some of these, about the Mole Creek area, right here - Mole Creek, Mole Creek Caves, Chudleigh, Trowunna Wildlife Park, Alum Cliffs, Dogs Head, Tasmanian Tiger lore, Aboriginal heritage, Needles, and the Mole Creek Karst system.
